Plot Outline:
After a failed marriage and the loss of his job, naïve accountant Ian MacLeod returns to his hometown of Glasgow. A budding romance with Scotland Yard profiler Kyla Fraser is interrupted when MacLeod takes a job as a "night auditor" contrived to set him up for a murder he did not commit. He finds out that the ruthless Glaswegian mob is behind his newfound troubles and he makes the grievous error of absconding with their money as a ploy to negotiate his way out of his predicament.
